Hello Bloggers,
Today Paterson class had a bike riding lesson! Before we did anything we had to go over the safety rules like tie your laces and to take off your jacket if its around your waist
Then we got to pick out our helmets, Jason and Loni ( our bike instructors ) told us that we needed to check if there were any cracks because if your fall you might crack your head open! Jason and Loni also helped us adjust our helps from the back and from the straps. They also taught us the 2 4 1 rule, you have to have 2 fingers on your forehead then you had to pull your helmet down to your fingers. You have to have 4 fingers on the straps on the side of your ear and there is a buckle that has to be under your ear. Then 1 finger should fit under your chin and strap.
Now onto picking our bikes! Loni asked who didn't know how to ride a bike or wasn't confident so she could take them and teach them. Then Jason told all the tall people to go get a black bike because they were bigger. Then everyone else went and got a bike. Before we got on we learnt the ABCD rule. First check for Air, second check your Brakes, Third check you Chain and Last but least check if your handels are in the right Direction.
Now onto riding! ( My favourite part ). First we were split into groups ( I was in the yellow group - or group three). Each group had a lane. At first we just had to ride and go back to the back of our line but after a few rounds of that we learnt about the signals to indicate cars where we were going. We had to ride then when we past the yellow line we had to point where we were going ( it was so fun ). Then Jason held up different coloured bean bags and he would call out look. We had to look quickly and shout out the colour. Then the last game was turtle race. The slowest person to reach the yellow line won! ( Our team only won once 😕 ). I found the turtle race really hard because I kept falling down.
Thats was all! We also are going to have another lesson tomorrow! By the way here is a picture our teacher took of us.
