Kia Ora Bloggers,
Today I wrote a recount on my exciting day at the zoo! I thought it would be a good idea to share it with you, if you have any feedback or tips please leave a comment.
Yesterday room six, nine and eight went to the zoo! We split up into groups so it would be easier to cover the whole zoo. I was in Ms V’s group with Marcus, Pita, Lanisi, Salote and Mina. Before we went to the zoo we watched a quick video about the rules of the zoo. Some of the rules were; No scooters, whistles, dogs and balloons. After that video we got into the bus and headed to the zoo.
When we arrived at the zoo we sat down in a big meeting area. A lady named Lizzy came in and told us what time we had to be back and the time of the spider monkey show. Then we headed off into the zoo. For some reason we didn’t go into our groups, instead we stayed together as a class. The first animal we saw was the asian small-clawed otter. It was so cute! But it ran away into its hide because people were shouting. Then we saw the ring-tailed lemurs, they were all bunched up on one branch. It was really funny when one of them looked at me because it looked like it was rolling its eyes.
After that we headed to the pride lands to start our tour. A man named PJ showed us around. First thing I saw was a giraffe (did you know that they are the tallest animals on earth?). There were about four giraffe’s, next we saw the zebra’s eating from haynets. After that we saw the rhinos, it was super funny because we didn't see much of the rhinos. We only saw them poop, I saw something big and brown and I pointed it out and said it was rhino poop but then it jumped up and flew away. It was a duck!
Then we went to the empty lion enclosure. It was empty so we asked why, sadly the lions that had been in there had passed away from old age (they were sixteen!). But PJ said that they will be getting some lion cubs soon. After that we got to touch some giraffe poop and some giraffe skin! Then we went to see the meerkats. At first we couldn't see them but when we went into the tunnels we saw them standing up and digging holes. Then lots of people came into the tunnels and I got squished.
After that we went to see the cheetahs. I could only see one of the cheetahs, her name was quartz. The best part of the cheetahs was when quartz rolled on her back and rolled around.
Then we moved on to the baboons. They made us all laugh because they had pink bums, we also saw them picking fleas off each other.
After that we split up and then at one pm we all met up at the spider monkey show. We watched them feed the monkeys whilst we ate lunch.
